Everything you ever wanted to know about hair removal

Swim suit season also means hair-removal. After all, you want to look fabulous in a bathing suit without worrying about embarrassing situations. There are lots of ways to get rid of excess body hair. Waxing, laser treatments, electrolysis and threading are just some of your choices. Waxing in particular, is a favored solution for many because it’s less-invasive, yet highly effective without being too pricey.

There are two different types of waxing. Soft wax is the one you may be more familiar with. In this form, the wax is applied to the skin after it has warmed and then removed with paper or cloth strips. This type is best applied to an area only once since it clings to dead skin. It is also best suited for larger areas like the back or legs.

The second type, typically referred to as hard wax, is where the wax is left to harden on the skin. In this way, less dead skin is removed. It is also different from the soft wax in that the esthetician will use a small section of the hardened wax to strip the wax off the skin, rather than using a cloth or paper. This type is more suited to sensitive areas like the face or bikini area. Both these techniques may be used in full body waxing procedures.

How to Get the Best of Waxing Services

Once you know the kind of waxing you need and are ready for the procedure, the first step is to find a professional. You’ve no doubt seen the very many DIY home-kits but at-home waxing procedures can be risky. You don’t want to irritate the skin or get a less than desired effect. Professional waxing service providers will make the process as stress free for your skin and as painless as possible.

That is not to say that there will be no pain. Your esthetician will try to make the process as comfortable as possible but the process usually involves a bit of pain. So, prepare yourself for at least some pain.

Finally, let your hair grow out between sessions. Letting your hair grow will reduce pain during your next session since the hair will be finer and sparsely distributed if you don’t shave.
